José Lourenço is a writer, editor and translator whose short stories, essays and translations in Konkani and English have appeared in various anthologies and periodicals. A practising civil engineer based in Margao, he has extensively studied and written about the façade architecture of Goa’s parish churches. He has put together a collection of Konkani proverbs in translation which reflect the wit and wisdom of ancient Goa. He was editor of the Goa Streets weekly and has co-edited Peacock, the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) magazine. He has worked as Vice-President of Goa Konkani Akademi and Konkani Bhasha Mandal, and as secretary of the Museum of Christian Art at Old Goa.
