Chitra Viraraghavan

Chitra Viraraghavan has a PhD in English Literature, and is a writer, children’s writer, anthologist, novelist and book editor. She began her publishing career with Oxford University Press India, working on academic books in literature, humanities & social sciences, collections of poetry, and school textbooks. As freelancer, she has done work for HarperCollins and Sahitya Akademi, among others.

She has written several primary- and middle-school textbook series, most recently for Orient BlackSwan. Her books include The Americans: A Novel (Fourth Estate/HarperCollins India, Harper360, US), a co-edited anthology, Madras on My Mind: A City in Stories (HarperCollins), and a child’s memoir of her great-grandfather, Delhi Thaatha: A Great, Grand Story (Seagull Books). Forthcoming is Watcher of the Skies, her second novel.
