Chitra Viraraghavan is a writer, novelist and book editor, and has a PhD in English. She began her publishing career with Oxford University Press India, working on academic books in the areas of literature, and humanities & social sciences, as well as collections of poetry and school textbooks. As freelancer, she has done work for many publishers including HarperCollins and Sahitya Akademi. She is the writer of several primary- and middle-school textbook series, most recently for Orient BlackSwan. Her books include The Americans: A Novel (Fourth Estate/HarperCollins India, Harper360, US), a co-edited anthology, Madras on My Mind: A City in Stories (HarperCollins), and a child’s memoir of her great-grandfather, Delhi Thaatha: A Great, Grand Story (Seagull Books). Watcher of the Skies, her second novel, is forthcoming.
